Terrorist attacks

Conventionally Armed Terrorist Attacks

Measured in terms of number of lives lost, the 9/11/01 (aka "9/11") terrorist hijackings were the largest attacks on U.S. soil.  About 3,000 people were killed.  Pearl Harbor killed about 2,400.  Post 9/11, we have seen numerous attacks (both foreign and domestic) which included mass shootings, anti-semitic attacks, bombings, knife attacks; biological mail and car ramming attacks.(Beltway Snipers; Fort Hood; Boston Marathon Bombing; Las Vegas; Churches & Mosques; Night Clubs and other venues with large crowds).

The question to ask yourself:

WHAT CAN I DO TO IMPROVE MY CHANCES OF SURVIVAL?

The answers start with the basics.... Of course, you can only do what your able to.  But here's the list:

  1. PRACTICE (SA) SITUATIONAL AWARENESS everywhere you go.  Look around; take notice.  Imagine the scenarios.  Face the entry when you eat.  Look around the parking lot.  Always know the exits!
  2. Stay low profile.  Avoid drawing attention to yourself.  On the most basic level would be to blend in if you are out (less jewelry, dressy clothing, expensive vehicles).
  3. Avoid crowds & events.
  4. Live in rural areas.
  5. Arm yourself with whatever you can legally carry.  If you can't carry a gun, carry bear spray in your car.
  6. Stock up on PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and anti-radiation measures.  IOSAT pills; CBRN masks; respirators; tyvek & biological suits; plastic; duct tape, etc.
